George Noel Finn - A Brief History

Born in Thurles town in the county of Tipperary in 1951. I attended CBS Thurles for both Intermediate certificate education and also did my leaving certificate there.

My father George Joseph Finn was an electrician in the Irish Sugar Factory based in Thurles. George Joseph Finn was promoted to the chief Electrician until his retirement in 1962, both parents were originally from Mallow in County Cork. My mother Nora (nee Browne) gave birth to eight children, four boys and four girls.

George Joseph died at the age of 79 in Thurles (R.I.P) Nora also passed away on 25 January 2009 aged 88 years

My Family I am married to Philomena ( A Walking Saint ) and we have three fine sons together George ; David : Martin. Martin married the lovely Sarah in 2012. 2013 at the time of updating we still have no grandchild. We live in hope.

I started writing simple verse during my IT career but the first verse started between 1998 and 2000. A lot of this was family oriented and one of my favourites is a tribute to my father. Simply called "Dad's Garden" ..... My nephew Kieran and niece Michelle were the inspiration for some of my earlier poems (written through the eyes of a child, so to speak )

I named this collection "The Dolphin and the rose" (Still private)
